Retail Store Launch — Large Format Signage, Wall Mural & Branded Packaging
Posted in :
When a new retail fashion brand was preparing to open its flagship store in one of Kampala’s busiest shopping centres, they had exactly three weeks to transform an empty shell of a unit into a space that would stop people in their tracks. Their launch date was fixed. Their landlord had just handed over the keys. And they had a vision that needed to translate from a designer’s PDF into reality — fast.
The Challenge
The brand’s creative director walked us through the concept: bold colour-blocked window graphics that would be visible from across the mall floor, a full ceiling-height wall mural behind the main display, hanging banners along the storefront corridor, and printed shopping bags to match. Everything had to be produced and installed before launch day — with no margin for error, because the press visit was already confirmed.
The creative files were beautifully designed but had never been prepared for large-format print. We received them, rebuilt the artwork at production scale, colour-profiled everything against the brand’s Pantone references, and ran proof prints before committing to final production. That step alone saved them from a colour shift that would have made their signature coral look orange under retail lighting.

Production & Installation
Window graphics were produced in high-tack window vinyl with a frosted reverse — giving the inside of the store privacy while the exterior side blazed with the full-colour design. The wall mural was printed on premium self-adhesive wallpaper in panels, butted seamlessly to create a single 4.2m x 2.8m image behind the main clothing rail.
Hanging banners were produced in lightweight display fabric — chosen specifically because the mall had strict rules about suspended weight loads from the ceiling track system. We factored this into the specification before production, avoiding the last-minute panic that catches out suppliers who don’t ask the right questions upfront.

The Finishing Touch: Printed Packaging
The shopping bags were the detail that pulled everything together. Printed on kraft paper with a two-colour design and rope handles, they were the kind of bag customers carry out of a store and don’t throw away. In the first week of trading, the brand reported that six people had come into the store specifically because they had seen someone else carrying the bag in another part of the mall. That is a marketing result from a print product.

Full Project Scope
- 6 large-format window graphic panels (high-tack frosted vinyl)
- 1 full wall mural (4.2m × 2.8m, self-adhesive wallpaper, seamlessly installed)
- 8 hanging display banners in lightweight display fabric
- 1,000 branded kraft shopping bags with rope handles
- Artwork reproduction and colour profiling for all items
- Full on-site installation completed 48 hours before launch
The store opened to a full floor of customers on day one. The creative director told us later: “People were photographing the wall before they even looked at the clothes. That’s exactly what we wanted.”
